Future Business Leaders of America Bring Home Hardware from State Leadership Conference

The Future Business Leaders of America Club at Saint Joseph High School was represented by 14 students at the State Leadership Conference in Indianapolis from March 15th through March 17th among over 200 students from around the state of Indiana. The event was held at the Sheraton Hotel downtown. Our students combined to participate in 30 Objective Tests, 17 Competitive Performance Events, one Proctored Production Test, and one Virtual Challenge from a range of business topics.

Congratulations are in order for Sophia Agostino (Accounting I Test); Billy Blacketor (Banking and Financial Services Test); Chris Achkar, Matt Chilcote, Jaylen Knapp-Petty (Broadcast Journalism Performance); Brandon Hawley, Jaylen Knapp-Petty, Anthony Nemeti (Business Ethics Performance); Sophia Agostino (Computer Applications Proctored Production and Objective Test); Lexi Kilcoin (Journalism Test); Anthony Nemeti (Management Decision Making Test); and Billy Blacketor (Virtual Business Personal Finance Challenge) for earning first place medals in their event.

Certificate winners for being in the top seven included Billy Blacketor (2nd Banking and Financial Systems Performance); Olivia Lenyo (4th Business Law Test); Mark Hinkle (5th Cyber Security Test); Brandon Tran (6th Economics Test); Randy Moore (4th Entrepreneurship Test); Mark Hinkle, Brandon Tran (2nd Graphic Design Performance); Jacob Marsocola (3rd Introduction to FBLA Test); Marie Achkar (6th Journalism Test); Randy Moore, Lexi Kilcoin (3rd Management Decision Making Performance); Brandon Hawley, Chris Achkar (3rd, and 6th Management Decision Making Test); Anthony Nemeti, Sophia Agostino, Lexi Kilcoin (4th, 5th and 7th Organizational Leadership Test); Brandon Hawley, Matt Chilcote, Chris Achkar, Billy Blacketor, Jaylen Knapp-Petty (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th 6th Parliamentarian Test); Billy Blacketor (5th Personal Finance Test); Jacob Marscola (3rd Public Service Announcement Individual Performance); Chris Achkar, Brandon Hawley, Anthony Nemeti (5th Public Service Announcement Team Performance); Olivia Lenyo (4th Political Science Test); Olivia Lenyo (4th Public Speaking Performance); Chris Achkar (2nd Who’s Who Performance).

In addition, Olivia, the FBLA President, and Mrs. Martin took part in the Parade of Chapters introduction. Olivia Lenyo and Randy Moore, Matt Chilcote (Alternate) were our Voting Delegates for State Officers. Olivia Lenyo and Sophia Agostino served on the Indiana FBLA Executive Board throughout the year and throughout this conference. Chris Achkar, Billy Blacketor, and Anthony Nemeti each earned four awards. Finally, Marie Achkar, Billy Blacketor, and Randy Moore placed 3rd in the Battle of the Chapters FBLA Competition, falling in a tie-breaker to advance to the finals.

FBLA rewards achievement in business and career-related areas. Top state winners are eligible to compete for honors at the National Leadership Conference next summer in San Antonio, Texas.
