SJHS Names Howell-Bey New Wrestling Coach

September 9th, 2019

William Howell-Bey comes to Saint Joseph High School as a youthful coach looking to inspire a resurgence in the wrestling program. Howell-Bey competed for Washington High School, where he amassed a 91-28 record; he also participated in the medical magnet program and graduated with honors in 2013.

Howell-Bey is a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and plans to use his experience in the Marines and as an athlete to foster and encourage the next group of young student-athletes at Saint Joe.

"Being offered and selected as the head coach for Saint Joseph High School wrestling is an honor and a privilege,” says Howell-Bey. “First, I want to thank God and my mother, because without them I would have never been selected for this opportunity. Wrestling has always been a love of mine, along with leading, teaching, and inspiring others. I look forward to passing on everything I can to impact every young man and woman I meet through coaching at Saint Joe. I am extremely excited and motivated to get this season underway."

Howell-Bey is working towards his degree in criminal justice from Indiana University when he is away from the mats.

"Will has the passion and desire we were looking in our next head wrestling coach,” says Deb Brown, Director of Athletics at Saint Joe. “His love of the sport and desire to give all that he can to high school students to succeed in wrestling, as well as in life, will be a huge asset. We welcome him with open arms to the Saint Joe family."
