The next Alumni Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 7 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Saint Joseph at the school.  Saint Joseph High School chaplain Father Terry Coonan will be the celebrant.  Those attending should park in the Notre Dame Avenue lot and enter Door A.  Please contact Alumni Coordinator Henry Chandler ( or 574-234-2904, ext. 547) if you have any questions.

Class of 1964
Dan O'Neill retired from the South Bend Fire Department in 1990 but is involved in keeping the history of the department alive by scanning and saving images of SBFD members putting out fires and  going through the day-to-day routine of the firehouse.  Some of these images date back to the 1950's and were hanging in various firehouses around the city.  Dan has painstakingly worked to add names and places to identify the photos which currently amount to 1,500 images after two years of work.   

Class of 1967
David Goulet has published his fourth novel entitled That's Life, the story of two teenager who meet in college but are pushed apart by a mother and her religious beliefs.  The war in Viet Nam, serious injury, and fifteen years pass before a chance meeting between the two.  Even then, drugs, diamond smuggling, prison, and murder entangle their lives before they
reunite though secrets are still kept.
David is also the author of Desert Snow, Coming of Age, and The Reunion​​​​​​​. 

Class of 1990
Joe Rulli will hold a signing of his new publication Chicago Socialism: The People's History at Barnes and Noble, University Park Mall, Mishawaka on Saturday, October 5 at 11 a.m.

Class of 2000
Peter Buttigieg, Mayor of South Bend, has announced that he will not seek a third term as Mayor.  On April 14, 2019, Mayor Pete formally announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in the 2020 election.

James Mueller won the May Democratic primary for Mayor of South Bend and will run as the party candidate in the November election.

Nick Pittman has been selected by the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce as a member of the Forty Under 40 Class of 2019.  The Chamber annually recognizes forty local young executives, professionals, and leaders who have demonstrated career success and significant community engagement before the age of 40.  Nick and other honorees will be celebrated at a luncheon on May 23rd. 

Class of 2001
Michael Schmuhl is the presidential campaign manager for South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Class of 2002
Adam Gill has been named a commercial loan officer by Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. He earned a Bachelor's degree in accounting from Anderson University and has an extensive background in banking and financial analysis.

Class of 2010
Tyler Gillean has been nominated by voters in the May primary to run for the South Bend Common Council to represent the 4th district.

Class of 2011
Rachel Staley became Sister Mary Fiat of the Sisters of Saint Francis of Perpetual Adoration in a First Profession ceremony at the Mount Alverno convent  in Mishawaka on August 1st.  Sister will continue her discernment with an assignment to vocations work for the next year.

Class of 2012
Juan Constantino was named the Outstanding Male Latino Young Professional in Indiana by the Latino Expo. He received his award at the Latino Expo Gala in Indianapolis on December 8th. 

Class of 2013
Elizabeth Kuntz participates in the Cooking for Christ ministry at Saint Pius X parish.  As part of the Young Adult parish group, she prepares casseroles four times a year at Saint Pius for delivery to the Center for the Homeless in South Bend.  Each cooking session begins with a reflection and then, under the supervision of a chef, the casserole preparation and cooking begins.  Elizabeth will graduate in December from the Indiana University South Bend School of Nursing. 

Class of 2015
Maclaine Capshew has begun work for Focus (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) as a missionary on the campus of the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota.  The goal of Focus is to ".....introduce young people to the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ and raise a generation of world-changers" through the "Win, Build, Send" model.  Maclaine will be working through the Catholic Center on campus engaging students in Bible studies, mission trips, discipleship, social activities and the sacraments. 

Class of 2017
Annalena Bellm has been selected as a member of the Class of 2021 Sorin Scholars program at the University of Notre Dame.  She was selected based on a competitive application process and her academic performance in the First Year Studies program at the University.

Happy 102nd  Birthday
Brother Wilbert Leveling, C.S.C. who served at Saint Joe from 1953-1969 celebrated his 102nd birthday on February 12th.  Happy Birthday, Brother, and thank you for your devoted service to Saint Joe from 1953-1969.

Brother Leo Legendre, C.S.C. is trying to locate color photos of the murals on the walls of his classroom in the former school at 1441 N. Michigan Street.
